About us

BLEACHWOOD TIMBER FLOORS is a family business, based on the Brisbane Northside, owned and operated by Matthew Sjerp. Matty has years of experience in the timber flooring industry, is QBCC licensed, a trade-qualified professional and a decorated ATFA member.

Matty travelled to Germany to learn from master craft tradesmen and manufacturers on the most elite machinery from Lagler, practicing the best sanding methods. Also, acquiring the skills from Berger-Seidle to master the art of floor coatings and stains that the world has to offer. This experience has taught him how to showcase the natural beauty of wooden floors through expert floor sanding and polishing techniques.

The Australasian Timber Flooring Association (ATFA) is the peak body for timber floors and the timber flooring industry throughout Australia and New Zealand. We represent contractors, manufacturers and suppliers to the industry.

Timber Floors currently represent 25% of the flooring market and this figure is steadily increasing. Natural timber flooring is arguably more energy efficient than other surfaces, uses less energy and greenhouse gases in its production* and is a sustainable resource.
